I had installed XP after Vista and had to do the repair for the Vista drive to be recognized. When I start the "recovered" Vista, I get a short Welcome screen, then it says "Preparing Desktop". Garmin screen comes up as it emits the usual little startup tone. Then it just hangs there. Indefinitely. What happens if you then hit Enter? Phil Nothing happens.
